Stara Zagora, Bulgaria

The oldest dwellings of pre-historic men were unearthed in the vicinity. Two dwellings from the New Stone Age are preserved in the Neolithic Dwellings Museum. These are the best preserved dwellings from the New Stone or Neolithic Age (6th millennium BC) in Europe and contain a rich collection of tools and artifacts.

The city was founded in around 106 AD during the reign of the emperor Marcus Ulpius Traianus. It was named under his name – Augusta Traiana. The remains from that time can be seen in the city.
