Restaurant Vodenitzata (The Watermill) is a traditional Bulgarian restaurant located on footsteps of Vitosha Mountain – looking over city capital of Bulgaria. The combination of green forest, а small stream, colorful flowers and watermill stones makes the place cozy. The restaurant is known for its rich collection of selected Bulgarian dishes and its traditional folklore decoration. In summer time up to 200 seats are available outdoors and indoor the number of seats is up to 150. During your dinner you will enjoy a live performance of folklore music and dances as well as an ancient authentic Bulgarian rite called “Nestinarstvo” in which people dance barefoot on glowing embers (live coals). Some historians believe that the rite dates back to Thracian pagan rituals. By tradition, nestinari (fire dancers) dance in the night of the feast day of Saints Constantine and Helena (3 and 4 June, according to the old style). Today the fire dance is practiced rarely as a tourist attraction and the opportunity to see the live performance at Vodenitzata depends from the meteorological forecast.
